Akins Ford To Provide Hole-In-One Prizes

AkinsTruckAkins Ford of Winder is presenting a 2013 Ford F-150 pickup truck to the winner of this year’s biggest hole-in-one contest for the 2013 Ralph Gabrielson Annual Memorial Golf Tournament.

This year’s golf tournament on July 27, held at the Stone MountainPark’s Lakemont course, will feature a chance to win a 24-month lease for the F-150 on the 160-yard par-three 16th hole. The prize will be parked alongside the 16th fairway, providing inspiration for those attempting to win it.

Last year’s tournament celebrated one player who sank a hole-in-one during that day’s play. Unfortunately, his eagle was on a hole featuring another contest, and the hole-in-one contest had no winner in 2012. Several registered players have already made plans to hit the hole this year.

Stan Cardiges of Akins Ford said, “We are thrilled to be part of this tournament, and we’re especially happy knowing the proceeds are going to a good charity. And sinking a hole-in-one isn’t the only way to get a great truck – anyone looking to buy a new vehicle should come see me in Winder, and I’ll be happy to fit you with a car or truck you will love.”

Akins is also providing prizes for two other contests during the tournament:
* One major-brand fairway wood
* Two golf vacations: one Tree Top Resort and one Las Vegas resort (airfare not included)

Details of the prizes and rules for winning will be provided the morning of the Tournament.

Stan Cardiges and the sales staff of Akins Ford can be reached at 866/625-1965.

Stone Mountain Golf Club Welcomes 2013 Event

Event planners are excited to announce that the Ralph Gabrielson Annual Memorial Tournament will be held at the Lakemont Course at the Stone Mountain Golf Club this year. Registration is open and sponsors are already being lined up for the July 27, 2013 event.

This annual “best ball” charity tournament is held to raise funds for Lutheranch, a 519-acre outdoor camp and retreat ministry located near the Georgia/Alabama state line west of Atlanta. The Ralph Gabrielson tournament specifically targets the youth programs provided by the camp. This year, Lutheranch is raising money for major improvements; the capital campaign, called “Standing On The Promise”, will allow Lutheranch to make significant improvements to the camp facilities. Plans include a $3.1 million Retreat Center and a youth Tent Village with accompanying bathhouse.

The shotgun start for the tournament takes place at 9:00 AM on Saturday, July 27, 2013. Players are encouraged to show up early for coffee, doughnuts, range and putting practice.

Players, sponsors and donors can sign up using the forms available online – just click on the page tabs at the top of this website. You can also browse the FAQ (frequently asked questions) or reach any of the event organizers at the contact page.

The deadline for registration is July 19, 2013. Get last year’s rate of only $75 on all registrations received before March 1, 2013! After that, the price increases to $85 until 5/10/13; after 5/10/13 the rate becomes $95 until 7/19/13.

Space is limited so don’t delay.

Until then, keep it on the short green!

2012 Tournament a Success

Friends, we thank you so much for your participation earlier this summer in our charity golf tournament! The Ralph Gabrielson Tournament is proud to announce that we exceeded last year’s levels – both in number of golfers registered and in money raised for the youth camp programs at Lutheranch.

Record-setting proceeds

Once the numbers have been crunched and matching pledges are received, we will announce the exact size of the check; but we’re already anticipating that Lutheranch will be receiving more than $4,750 this year through the generosity of our sponsors and players. That’s an impressive improvement over the 2011 fundraising.

Apologies

We know that some of you experienced trouble with the availability of working carts, lunch and beverages during the event, and we have taken steps to eliminate those problems next year. People have been so supportive and understanding despite those inconveniences, perhaps keeping our charitable goals in mind – and the tournament committee thanks you for your kindness.

Survey

We want to make this tournament the best it can be, and still keep it affordable. With that in mind, please complete this survey (use the password you received in our recent “players” email) so we know what you thought was great during the 2012 event and so we can most effectively plan the 2013 event.

Photo CD

Like the Mardi Gras Parade and the Superbowl, next year’s event is already being planned. Help us raise money for the 2013 tournament by purchasing our 2012 tournament CD! Filled with photos from the course and awards ceremony, the proceeds from your $10 purchase go directly towards next year’s goal. See our photos page for a preview, and contact Paul.Lukasiewicz@compucom.com to order.

On behalf of the young people attending camp at Lutheranch, thank you again for your generosity and participation. You have made this a great year for the Ralph Gabrielson Tournament. We hope to see you next year as well; meanwhile, keep it on the short green!

6th Hole: 50/50 Contest
8th Hole: Men’s Longest Drive Contest
10th Hole: Ladies’ Longest Drive Contest
11th Hole: Hole in One Contest

The contest winners will be announced immediately following play on the day of the tournament. We will award trophies to the tournament winners, and there will be other prizes, drawings and giveaways throughout the day. Rules for the contests will be made available in the tournament program.

The deadline for player registration is May 28; sponsorship slots are still available.

Until then, keep it on the short green!

The shotgun start for the tournament takes place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 2.
